Daria Khrushcheva is a young photographer — researcher. She was born in Moscow and studied there advertising and fine-art photography at RSU named after A. N. Kosygin. Daria does both film and digital photography.
In the course of her artistic development Daria tends to research human nature and subconsciousness through the portrait genre. In her works she creates mystical worlds and symbolic imageries which stem from her interest in philosophy and mythology. She finds inspiration in the works of surrealist photographers of the 20th century and in the creative legacy of the American photographer Francesca Woodman. Daria takes interest in the Japan Wabi-sabi aesthetics, 'wabi' meaning simplicity and asceticism and 'sabi' refering to the authentic beauty that can be found as something ages. The photographer sees a great importance in the reflection of the dark side of personality in fine art.
She finds film photography fascinating due to its multistage process of creating a shot. She also enjoys making collages because it gives her tangible experience which digital photo editing lacks. Daria prefers to combine photographs with a fabric texture, paper, drawings and cyanotypes.
